I began my payments career in the 1980s, working on EFTPOS-UK and then helping to architect Switch - now Maestro - one of the most succesful debit card schemes in the world.
I was appointed to the Board of eurocheque International SC in the late 1980s, gaining a European perspective on payments and banking.
Work with Europay and MasterCard on EDC/Maestro followed on from Switch and eurocheque, opening my eyes to the global nature of the payments industry.
In 1990, at NatWest and working with Graham Higgins, I co-invented Mondex digital cash. I led Mondex from its inception to the formation of Mondex International in July 1996.
In 2000 I formed the team that developed Purseus, an Automated Clearing House (ACH) concept for the 21st century.
